Weekend Playlist: This Week’s Indie Game Releases – January 21, 2022

Although Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction is likely to be at the top of your gaming list this weekend, it’d be a mistake to discount the indie releases on tap this week, as there are plenty of great titles that are well-deserving of your time.

Here are our picks for this week’s indie Weekend Playlist.

Previously: Weekend Playlist: This Week’s Indie Game Releases – January 14, 2022

Pupperazzi (PC, XBX, XB1)

Perhaps the most wholesome-looking game of the week, Pupperazzi – from developer Sundae Month – tasks you with taking pictures of adorable doggos who appear to be capable of doing things like riding bikes, traveling to the moon, and skateboarding on half-pipes. Pupperazzi is available now on PC via Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is currently 10%-off on Steam through January 27.

Ibatic (PC)

If your budget is a bit thin this week, look no further than Ibatic – from developer/publisher Moonfish Studio. The 3D platformer is free-to-play, and features fast-paced platforming action (that focuses on time trials) as you explore an ever-evolving world. Ibatic is available now on Steam.

SHINORUBI (PC)

Bullet-hell and shoot-em-up fans, rejoice! SHINORUBI – from developer/publisher Last Boss 88 – will be right up your alley this week, featuring frenetic arcade action inspired by classic Japanese shooting games. SHINORUBI is available now on PC via Steam.

Velocity Noodle (PC)

Velocity Noodle – from developer/publisher Shotgun Anaconda – features every gamer’s dream: ramen being delivered at lightning speeds. The fast-paced 2D action platformer looks strikingly similar to Aeon Drive, which released last year, primarily due to its pixel art style, overall gameplay mechanics, and cyberpunk setting. Aeon Drive is a wonderful game, though, so hopefully, Velocity Noodle will provide the same enjoyment and challenge. Velocity Noodle will be available on PC via Steam on January 21.

Finally, here are a few other indie games that are releasing in Early Access or are making their debut on new platforms:

  • Alina of the Arena – Available now for PC via Steam Early Access. A free demo of the game is also available now.
  • Blacksmith Legends – Available now for PC via Steam Early Access
  • The Company Man – Port available on January 21 for Nintendo Switch
  • River City Girls – Port available now for PS4 and PS5
  • RPGolf Legends – Port available now on Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch
