Full disclosure: when it comes to photography and being camera-ready at a moment’s notice, I am definitely not a professional. The HEX Back Loader DSLR Backpack is a sleek and stylish camera backpack that also doubles as a gaming backpack (more on that later). The backpack features customizable storage, allowing you to store your camera and other gear exactly how you want it, while allowing you to grab contents from the top or from the fully-accessible back of the pack. The design of the backpack is also very stylish, making it perfect for everyday use or travel.

I was sent the Camo-patterned bag, and even as someone who doesn’t tend to gravitate toward that color scheme, it looks great. The square body and sharp lines make it look modern and stylish, but the camo print gives it a bit of an edge.

Comfort

Staying on the topic of its square shape, the HEX Back Loader DSLR Backpack is actually quite comfortable to wear. I was able to wear it for long periods of time without any discomfort, and the backpack’s straps distribute the weight evenly.

Even when the backpack is loaded down with gear, it’s still comfortable to wear thanks to the padded back panel and adjustable straps.

Its durability is also quite impressive, with heavy-duty zippers, buckles, and straps. I’ve recently put this backpack through its paces while traveling, and it’s held up very well.

Functionality & Storage

Arguably the best feature of this camera backpack is the storage customization. The backpack has a removable camera insert that can be customized to fit your camera and lens(es). This is great for those who have different camera setups or who want to be able to change things up on the fly. In fact, the velcro dividers make it easy to change the configuration of the insert, so you can really tailor it to your needs – even if that means removing all of the dividers completely.

In addition to the camera insert at the top of the pack – making grabbing your camera at a moment’s notice incredibly accessible – there are several other pockets and compartments that can be used for storing things like extra batteries, memory cards, your phone, etc. The backpack also features a built-in rain cover for inclement weather. It’s kept in a hidden pouch that I didn’t even know was there until I had already used the backpack for a week.

A Backpack For All Needs

While the HEX Back Loader DSLR Backpack is primarily a photographer’s dream pack, it’s also one that can easily be used for content creators, as well as gamers.

Route cables through the dividers for charging or connecting external storage devices. Effortlessly store your mini-tripods and mobile lighting solutions. Keep your mobile gaming devices and accessories padded and safe (I’m personally a big fan of the 15″ laptop compartment). Even tabletop players could use the HEX Back Loader DSLR Backpack to store things like miniatures, card decks, and playmats.

This is really all to say that the backpack is incredibly versatile, and I think that’s one of its best selling points.
