31 Days Of Halloween: Decarnation

If you ever thought that the combination of pixelated visuals and the horror genre couldn’t successfully mix — think again. The indie horror game Decarnation is here to show exactly what can be done when combining these elements into one unforgettable game.

In Decarnation, you’ll play as Gloria, a struggling cabaret dancer in early 90’s Paris. Through a series of nightmarish events, Gloria will be forced to confront the horrific monsters that have invaded her subconscious mind. In order to survive, she’ll need to use all her wits and strength to solve complex puzzles across a series of disturbingly surreal landscapes.

If you’re a fan of psychological horror games like Silent Hill or Fatal Frame, then you’re going to want to check out the trailer for Decarnation. The game is absolutely dripping with atmosphere, and will seemingly have you second-guessing everything you thought you knew about reality. And with its creepy pixel graphics, it feels like you’re playing an old-school survival horror game in a way that reminds you why these games are so beloved to begin with.

Decarnation is slated for a 2023 release, but a free-to-play demo is now available on PC via Steam — just the thing to keep you in the Halloween spirit.
