It’s our second straight day reporting on a water-logged title – this time, coming in the form of cartoonish characters and over-the-top skateboarding… err, skateboating action.

Announced today by publisher and developer, Funktronic Labs, Wave Break will be making its way to Steam and Nintendo Switch sometime later this summer. The game puts players in an 80’s Miami Vice-inspired world, with animal characters who use boats (instead of skateboards) to perform kickflips, grabs, grinds, and even wall plants, all while taking on challenges and other stunts that you might expect to find in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise.

Wave Break features over-the-top gameplay, all of which is accompanied by a synthwave soundtrack. The game offers a single-player campaign, along with online multiplayer modes such as Death Match to Trick Attack, with Turf War coming to the game at a later date.

“We’re super excited to finally announce that Wave Break is coming to Switch and Steam this Summer,” shares President of Funktronic Labs, Eddie Lee. “The team worked hard to get it smooth 60hz on Switch, and we can’t wait to see all the wacky fan-made creations in the new Park Creator. We also have another big musical surprise coming for launch, you won’t believe it!”

A closed beta test for Wave Break is currently available until March 21st on Steam.
